He holds first class Master's degree in Mathematics. He is a senior academician, administrator and educationist with more than four decades of active involvement at national level. His initial career as a mathematics teacher par excellence got him the coveted Efficiency Award of the UP Board of Secondary Education and was one of the early adopters of Modern Mathematics in the Country. Mr. Gupta during his distinguished career was Principal of Birla Vidya Mandir, Nainital and presently, continues to be closely associated with a number of eminent schools of the country as patron or member of their Board of Management and Trusts. He played a key role in the activities of the Indian Public Schools Conference as its chairperson and was a member of the Governing Council of the CBSE. As an author, Mr. Gupta has been associated with S. Chand for more than 40 years and has to his credit many bestsellers in Mathematics. His bestsellers include the books on Mathematics for the ISC students and the Mathematics Today Series. His books for years have also been exported and used by schools abroad.
